Sunny Needs a Home— High-Energy Tripod with a Heart of Gold
Sunny is a petite, two-year-old tripod with a bright spirit and an endless supply of energy. Her journey to us began after a serious accident: during one of her high-speed play sessions, she caught her leg and suffered a severe fracture. The injury required amputation to give her the pain-free, active future she deserved. Her former owner—an elderly individual who loved her but couldn’t meet the demands of such an energetic young cat—was unable to move forward with the procedure. That’s when Sunny came to us, and we made sure she received the care she needed.
Today, Sunny is fully healed and thriving on three legs. She is litter trained, curious, and incredibly clever. A natural athlete even as a tripod, she needs plenty of enrichment and engagement to channel her high energy. Food puzzles, snuffle mats, wand toys, climbing opportunities, and regular interactive play will make her very happy.
Sunny also has clear preferences when it comes to her living environment. She would do best as the only cat in the home, and while she may consider living with a calm, respectful dog, she values her personal space. Children over 12 who understand boundaries are a good match for her personality.
With her independence, intelligence, and playful nature, Sunny is a truly special cat looking for a family who appreciates her unique spark. If you’re ready for a spirited, one-of-a-kind companion, Sunny just might be the perfect fit.

The Legend of Nacho Fry: Extra Toes, Extra Chaos, Extra Love
Some rescue stories begin quietly and end with a whole lot of personality. That’s certainly true for Dennis, the abandoned kitten found with his siblings in a field at Root’s Country Market in Manheim. With his extra toes on all four paws—a trait known as polydactyly, meaning a cat is born with more than the usual number of toes—Dennis was already one of a kind when he arrived in our care.
Today, he’s even more unforgettable as Nacho Fry, the name lovingly chosen by his adopters, Taylor and Wyatt.
Nacho has blossomed into everything we knew he could be: high-energy, endlessly curious, and overflowing with charm. He greets his parents at the door every day and has recently developed a new ritual—sticking his entire face under the running sink faucet while teeth are being brushed, drenching himself in the process. Nacho, of course, sees no issue with this.
True to his polydactyl roots, he uses those extra toes for important work, like helping his mom scroll TikTok. If he approves of a video, he places his paw squarely on the screen—social media manager in the making. And when he’s not supervising household chores or jumping into the litter box mid-clean, Nacho still loves to be held like a baby and cuddle on the couch after a long workday.
According to Taylor and Wyatt:
“Nacho has a huge personality and we truly love him so much—especially his mom! We could go on and on about him.”
From a field in Manheim to a home filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of TikTok scrolling, Nacho Fry has found exactly where he belongs.
A Pet Safe Christmas
Keep pets safe by securing Christmas trees and keeping tinsel, ribbon, and small ornaments out of reach. Many holiday decorations can be tempting—and dangerous—for curious cats and playful pets.
Pumpkin Creativity Helps Cats in Need
Employees at That Fish Place – That Pet Place put their creativity (and competitive spirits) on full display during a recent pumpkin-decorating contest benefiting Centerville Pet Rescue. Fourteen beautifully crafted pumpkins were entered, each one decorated by a staff member who wanted to support the rescue in a fun, festive way.
Donors had the chance to “vote” with their dollars, and together they raised $256.65 for the cats and kittens in our care. Every contribution directly helps provide food, medical support, and safe housing for the cats who need us most.
While all 14 pumpkins were truly impressive, the top three vote-getters took home the honors—and you can see the winning creations in the photo accompanying this article.
Thank you to the talented team at That Fish Place – That Pet Place for turning Halloween fun into real support for rescue work. And thank you to everyone who donated—you helped make this contest a treat for the whole rescue community.
A Record-Breaking ExtraGive: Thank You!
We are excited to share some remarkable news. Thanks to your generosity and enthusiasm, Centerville Pet Rescue achieved our best ExtraGive ever, raising more than $35,000 to support the cats and kittens in our care. This is more than double last year’s total, and we could not be more grateful.
We are also pleased to share that we received the full $15,000 matching gift, unlocking every available match dollar. Because of your early and enthusiastic support, the match was met in full—turning $15,000 into $30,000 of impact.
Our ExtraGive event at That Fish Place – That Pet Place made the day even more special. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to meet our adoptable cats, shop our fundraising items, enjoy refreshments, visit with our volunteers, and participate in the joint activities with Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary. Your presence helped create a warm, positive atmosphere and brought even more visibility to our mission.
Your contributions have a direct and meaningful effect. Every gift helps provide safe shelter, medical care, and the chance for a brighter future for the animals who depend on us. Reaching this milestone affirms the strength of our community and the deep compassion you continue to show for our rescue work.
To everyone who donated, shared our posts, visited our event, or encouraged others to get involved—thank you. This extraordinary outcome is only possible because of you.
We look forward to putting these funds to work immediately to help even more cats across Lancaster County. Thank you for making this year’s ExtraGive truly exceptional.

A Night of Art and Compassion for Cats
A huge thank-you to Margot Furlong and Painting with a Twist – Lancaster for organizing and hosting our recent “Paint. Sip. Save Cats!” fundraiser! Margot is a dedicated volunteer and spent a lot of her time to make this event such a great success. Thanks to her generosity and the team at Painting with a Twist— not to mention the creativity of everyone who joined us — we raised over $600 to support the cats and kittens of Centerville Pet Rescue.
Guests enjoyed an evening of painting, music, and laughter under the guidance of artist Rachel, who helped everyone create beautiful works of art while giving back to a great cause.
We’re so grateful to Painting with a Twist for partnering with us and to all the participants who picked up a brush to make a difference. Every dollar raised helps provide medical care, food, and safe shelter for cats in need.
Stay tuned for future creative events — together, we’re turning compassion into action, one brushstroke at a time!
