Heartfelt Thanks to Our Longtime Sponsor: That Fish Place – That Pet Place!
Centerville Pet Rescue is proud to recognize and thank That Fish Place – That Pet Place for their unwavering support since our founding in 2015. From the very beginning, they have been an essential part of our journey — helping us grow, save lives, and serve our community.
Their incredible generosity includes providing a dedicated rescue and medical space inside their retail store, where countless cats have received care and found loving homes. They consistently promote our adoptable animals and events, and offer donations and discounts on vital supplies. Even more, they open the door to an extensive network of pet supply vendors and industry professionals, expanding the impact of our work far beyond what we could do alone.
We’re especially grateful for the fundraisers they host, including the ever-popular pet photo events with Santa and the Easter Bunny, as well as many other creative promotions. Together, these efforts result in tens of thousands of dollars in support every year!
Equally inspiring is the support we receive from their incredible employees, who go out of their way to help our team and the animals in our care. Their kindness and dedication truly make a difference.
Thank you, That Fish Place – That Pet Place, for being a cornerstone of Centerville Pet Rescue. Your partnership means the world to us — and to the cats you help save every day.
As the weather cools, many cats begin to shed their summer coats. Help reduce hairballs and keep your cat comfy by brushing regularly—especially for long-haired breeds. A few minutes a day can make a big difference (and keep your furniture fur-free!). Bonus: it’s great bonding time too!
Opening Doors, Changing Lives: How You Can Help Cats Find Their Forever Homes
If you’ve ever wished you could do something meaningful to help homeless animals — something that brings you joy and purpose — this is your moment.
At Centerville Pet Rescue, we believe that every cat deserves a second chance. Our adoption center inside That Fish Place – That Pet Place is one of the most important ways we connect our rescued cats with loving adopters. It’s where the magic happens — the purrs, the playfulness, the soft nudge of a head saying “pick me.” But to keep this vital part of our rescue thriving — and to expand the hours we’re open to the public — we need volunteers like you.
Volunteering in our adoption room isn’t just about opening a door. It’s about opening hearts.
Every shift, you could be the person who:
Helps a shy cat come out of their shell and get noticed.
Chats with a family searching for their very first pet.
Matches someone with a lonely senior lap cat who’s been waiting far too long.
You’ll become an essential part of the adoption journey — answering questions, sharing stories, offering advice, and helping people find the cat that fits their life. It’s incredibly rewarding work, and the impact is immediate: a successful adoption means one more life saved and one more space freed up for the next rescue.
We provide training with our friendly adoption team on a Friday or Saturday, and from there, you’ll be ready to independently open the center, greet visitors, and guide them through the process. Whether you prefer quiet weekday mornings or busy weekend afternoons, your time makes a difference.
Volunteers don’t just support the rescue — they help shape the future of our cats.
If you’re dependable, friendly, and love both felines and people, we’d love to welcome you to the team. The cats are waiting — and so are the families who need them.

Come be part of something beautiful. Help us open more doors. Help us write more happy endings.
Cat of the Month - Hannah
Hannah’s Story: A Special Boy with a Heart of Gold
When this quirky one-year-old first came to Centerville Pet Rescue, we thought Hannah was a girl — all of his paperwork said so! But after a full veterinary exam, we discovered that Hannah is actually a boy. Due to Manx Syndrome, a congenital condition that can affect the tail, rectum, and urinary system, his genitalia didn’t develop typically. While we could have changed his name, Hannah already responded to it — and we think it suits him perfectly.
A Remarkable Journey
Hannah’s story hasn’t been simple. As a kitten, he struggled with incontinence and difficulty passing stool. Thanks to the dedication of our veterinary team and his loving foster, Hannah underwent reconstructive surgery and a Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) to help him live more comfortably. Today, Hannah is thriving — playful, sweet, and finally able to go potty on his own.
He does occasionally leave behind little “butt kisses” near the litter box or on bedding, but this doesn’t slow him down one bit. With a daily “butt bath” and a little extra care, Hannah continues to live a full and happy life. In fact, he may even do well wearing a diaper in his forever home, if needed.
A Forever Home for a One-of-a-Kind Cat
Hannah’s journey shows resilience, courage, and a pure-hearted joy for life. What he’s looking for now is a family with a heart as big as his — someone who understands his quirks and will cherish him just the way he is.
If you’re ready to welcome Hannah into your home and give him the happily-ever-after he deserves, please complete an adoption application today. He’s currently living in a foster home, and we’d love to arrange a meet-and-greet so you can see just how special he truly is.
Hannah is waiting — could you be the one to change his life forever?
Why Hannah is Special
Hannah has been in foster care for more than a year, waiting patiently for someone who can see just how extraordinary he is. Here’s what makes him such a treasure:
- Uses the litter box on his own
- LOVES other cats and people
- Could do well with a calm, respectful dog
- Silly, cuddly, and full of heart
Hannah will need an adopter with some experience caring for cats with Manx Syndrome or other special needs, but he promises to reward you with endless love and gratitude.

Flight Helmet to Forever Home: Patches’ Happy Ending
Fast forward a few months, and Patches is now living her best life in her forever home! Her adopter shared with us that Patches has blossomed into “an absolute lover,” always ready to curl up on a lap and purr contentedly. She’s also a mischievous little sprite—hiding behind couches to pounce, playfully swatting at Sammie’s tail (her new kitty brother who “thinks he’s the boss”) to spark a game, and keeping her whole family on their toes with her antics.
