From Twix to Treasure: Roxanne Marie’s Story
One year ago, Alyson began her journey to find the perfect kitten to join her home. With encouragement and guidance from her veterinarian, she visited Centerville Pet Rescue—and it didn’t take long for her heart to find exactly what it was looking for.
“The moment I saw Roxanne Marie, I knew she was the kitten for me—and for my dog, Georgia.”
A Perfect Match
From her very first visit, Alyson was impressed by the kindness and care shown by the rescue team. They took the time to listen and helped ensure she found the right fit—not just for her, but for her entire household.
Today, Roxanne Marie (also lovingly known as Twix) is thriving. She’s grown into a sweet, affectionate cat who brings happiness to Alyson every day. One of the most special parts of her story is her bond with Georgia.
“Dogs and cats can certainly be best friends. Georgia and Roxanne enjoy playing together all the time.”
Building a Beautiful Bond
Alyson approached introductions thoughtfully—starting slow, allowing space, and gradually increasing time together. With patience and consistency, that careful approach turned into a strong and lasting friendship.
Now, Roxanne and Georgia are truly inseparable.
Patience Makes All the Difference
Like many rescue cats, Roxanne needed time to adjust to her new home. Alyson leaned on advice from her veterinarian and took the time to learn what Roxanne needed to feel safe and comfortable.
That patience made all the difference.
Today, Roxanne enjoys watching the world from the window, playing, and spending time with her family. She is a wonderful reminder that every cat’s journey is unique—and that patience and understanding can lead to incredible outcomes.
“Roxanne is a sweet, loving cat who just needed a home that gave her time to adjust.”
A Happy Ending—and Beginning
Alyson shared how grateful she is—not only for Roxanne, but for the entire Centerville Pet Rescue team. She also mentioned how much she enjoys reading the rescue’s newsletters and staying connected to stories like this one.
Thank you, Alyson, for giving Roxanne Marie the loving home she deserves—and for sharing your story with us.
Volunteer Spotlight: Gloria Stevens — A Lifetime of Compassion
For Gloria Stevens, animal rescue isn’t just something she does—it’s been part of who she is for over 25 years.
Her journey began in upstate New York, during a time when a local shelter was under scrutiny following an undercover investigation that revealed serious issues. When that shelter transitioned into a no-kill facility, it needed dedicated people to help rebuild trust and care standards. Gloria stepped in.
What followed was nothing short of remarkable. With the help of committed volunteers, the shelter transformed into a success story—saving thousands of animals and proving what compassion and accountability can achieve. For Gloria, that experience sparked a lifelong passion.
After retiring and relocating to Pennsylvania, Gloria continued volunteering at multiple shelters, always searching for a place that aligned with her values. She found that home at Centerville Pet Rescue.
“CPR stood out right away,” Gloria shares. “They are honest about every cat and truly focused on making the right matches. Their ethics are fantastic.”
Now nearly two years into her time with CPR, Gloria has become a valued part of the team. Though she lost her own cats about a decade ago, she says the rescue fills that space in a meaningful way—“It’s where I get my cat fix now.”
Her love for cats comes with plenty of memorable stories. One favorite involves a curious feline who decided to try her luck at fishing—jumping into a 50-gallon fish tank and emerging soaked but unharmed. Another tale includes a Christmas tree climbing adventure that ended with the tree snapped in half and decorations scattered across the house. To this day, Gloria ties her tree up each year—and always shares that tip with adopters.
At CPR, Gloria especially enjoys letting the cats out to roam and play, watching their personalities shine as they interact with each other and the space around them. She also has deep appreciation for the foster families who help make successful adoptions possible.
“Our foster families are incredible. They truly love their cats and give us the insight we need to make perfect matches.”
When asked to describe Centerville Pet Rescue in three words, Gloria doesn’t hesitate:
Loving. Trustworthy. Fantastic.
Gloria’s dedication doesn’t stop at the rescue doors. She is also actively working to help a feral neighborhood cat—affectionately named “OC” (for orange cat)—learn to trust and eventually find safety. Efforts like these take patience and persistence, but they reflect the same compassion that has guided Gloria’s work for decades.
Volunteers like Gloria are the heart of our mission—bringing experience, dedication, and genuine care to every cat who comes through our doors.

Adoptable Cat of the Month: Miss Wobbles
Some cats walk into your life gracefully. Others—like Miss Wobbles—find their way straight into your heart with determination, resilience, and a whole lot of love.
Miss Wobbles came to Centerville Pet Rescue in January 2026 alongside her brother as a shelter transfer. Both were diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia—a non-contagious, non-painful neurological condition that affects balance and coordination. While her brother’s case was mild, Miss Wobbles faces a more significant challenge.
Initially thought to be a bonded pair, it was later determined they could thrive separately. Her brother has since found his forever home. Now it’s Miss Wobbles’ turn.
In late February, she experienced a medical setback that required time in a foster home. What could have been a difficult chapter instead revealed exactly who she is. “Sweet” doesn’t quite cover it.
According to her foster, Miss Wobbles is one of the most affectionate cats you could ever meet. She loves being held, settles in comfortably, and rewards every bit of attention with a soft, steady purr that says everything you need to know.
And while her movement may not be graceful, her spirit is undeniable.
She uses her litter box like a pro. She eats independently. She gets wherever she needs to go—with persistence and determination. If she wants something, she’ll find a way. If she doesn’t, she’ll make sure you know.
Miss Wobbles doesn’t need a perfect home. She needs the right one. A soft, carpeted space where she can move safely. A home without stairs. Someone who is around enough to give her the attention she craves. Most importantly, someone who understands that while she may require a little extra care, she gives back far more in love and companionship.
Her treatments are complete. She’s healthy. And she’s ready.
Ready to find the person who will scoop her up, hold her close, and listen to that gentle, grateful purr.
If you believe every cat deserves a chance—not because they’re perfect, but because they’re special—Miss Wobbles is waiting for you.

Cat Tip of the Month: Carrier Comfort
Vet visits and travel are much easier when your cat is comfortable with their carrier—not just when it appears once a year.
Quick Tips:
- Leave the carrier out as a cozy resting spot
- Add a soft blanket or familiar scent
- Toss in treats or toys to create positive associations
A familiar carrier means less stress for your cat—and for you.
