Volunteer at Our Adoption Center

Our adoption center is located inside That Fish Place-That Pet Place and we need your help! If you are willing to help four hours or more a week, please consider the list of volunteer opportunities below and use the link to complete a volunteer application. Join our team of amazing volunteers and help us save more pets in Central Pennsylvania.

Feed-n-Clean Volunteers

The feed-n-clean process is one of the most important jobs at the rescue! In addition to providing each animal fresh water and food according to their dietary requirements, you are our eyes, ears and noses when it comes to the health and well-being of our cats. Proper cleaning and sanitizing can help prevent the spread of viruses, daily litter monitoring allows us to catch animal health concerns early and daily interaction and play keeps the cats happy and socialized! Primary tasks include:

  • Completing a daily log for each cat
  • Clean cages, litter pans and change bedding
  • Clean and fill food and water bowls.

 Adoption Counselor

Would you like to play a key role in helping cats find forever homes? We are looking for volunteers interested in opening our adoption room to the public, assisting with the application process and showing off our furry friends! Tasks include:

  • Open the adoption room
  • Provide information to potential adopters
  • Counseling on making an ideal match
  • Ensuring the safety of the animals and visitors

Interested candidates must enjoy interacting with people and cats, be able to work independently or with a team, responsible, dependable and able to follow and enforce guidelines for visitors. Volunteers will train with the adoption team on either a Friday or Saturday afternoon until they are able to open the adoption center on their own.

When clicking the Volunteer Application link, you will be redirected to our volunteer management system, Volgistics.

Foster a Pet

Fostering is a very rewarding and fulfilling experience. We are currently seeking fosters to care for cats and kittens. Please keep in mind it does have its ups and downs. Caring for a homeless pet until a permanent new home can be found or watching kittens grow up is a wonderful experience but the pets come from a variety of siutations and may have illnesses, behavior issues, and sadly, they can pass away. The greatest risk of losing foster animals is with babies that have lost their mother and need to be bottle fed. They are fragile and sometimes the best care in the world cannot save them. Fostering is critical to our success. We are currently primarily foster-based and, without fosters, we can’t take in animals and save their lives.

If you are interested in fostering please complete an application using the link below and we will follow up with more detailed information.
